The Girls are BACK and ready to take on the epic two-part Season 7 episode “The Monkey Show”!

This staged reading of the episodes features some of the Lehigh Valley’s best drag queens in the titular roles of The Golden Girls:

  • Carol Ann Carol Ann as Rose
  • Georgia Versace Couture as Dorothy
  • Sharron Ann Husbands as Blanche
  • Elektra Fearce St. James as Sophia

“The Monkey Show” was part of Hurricane Saturday, a one-off programming block of a three-way, two-hour crossover event on NBC between The Golden Girls, Empty Nest, and Nurses. The event depicts a fictional hurricane storming into the storylines of the three series set in Miami, Florida. The episodes aired back-to-back on Saturday, November 9, 1991 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. EST.

These episodes find Dorothy realizing that Stan is “moving on” with her sister, Gloria, while Blanche and Rose hold a telethon to save a lighthouse. Dorothy later catches Gloria with Stan in her bed, then learns that Sophia pushed Stan and Gloria together. As the storm intensifies, Dorothy and Sophia get into a fight and Sophia goes out into the hurricane.

This staged reading will feature costumes, props, and all the things normally expected of a staged show. The actors will have their scripts in hand, too.
