The ninth annual SteelStacks High School Jazz Band Showcase will feature 17 bands and be held over four events in February and March at the Musikfest Cafe.
Tickets for the preliminary rounds are $7 plus fees and on sale at www.steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378. The showcase is presented by the law firm of King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul.
Scholastic jazz groups from Pennsylvania and New Jersey will perform in front of a live audience and a judging panel comprised of music educators. Preliminaries are set for 12 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 23 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8. Finals will be held on Sunday, March 29 at 4 p.m.
The competition is a music-in-education program of ArtsQuest and the Moravian College Music Department’s Jazz Studies Program.
