Join Embassy Bank in honoring the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country in a weekend-long community celebration.

Our Hometown Heroes

Presented by Embassy Bank

For the ninth year, the SteelStacks Campus will be transformed into a living memorial honoring our hometown heroes. The campus will be draped with images of local military heroes as a display of the appreciation and gratitude for their sacrifices and contributions. The banners will display photos of the soldiers, their rank, branch of service, era of service and hometown.

Support our troops by donating products from the list of items that are needed. Items can be dropped off at either of the following locations starting on May 1, 2019 during regular business hours.

Empowerment Performances
Presented by WVE&T (Women Veterans Empowered & Thriving)
1 p.m. | ArtsQuest Center, 2nd Floor Blast Furnace Room
The community is invited to listen to veterans and family members speak a tribute to those they have lost in observance of Memorial Day. Jenny Pacanowski will curate the ritual of storytelling and how ancient cultures utilized performance to bring the community together to grieve, celebrate and hold a space of kindness, compassion and non-judgment.

Meet-Up & Workshop
1-4 p.m. | Banana Factory Arts Center, 1st Floor Crayola Gallery
This workshop is free and designed for veterans and family members to explore their grief, loss, anger and empower their truth and experiences. This space is provided for those who have lost themselves or someone they loved and need a place outside of the holiday barbeques and retail sales to express what Memorial Day was truly intended for. No previous writing experience is necessary. This event is free and open to veterans of all eras and their family members. Please contact Jenny Pacanowski at womenveteransempowered@gmail.com if you would like to take part in the workshop.

 

Remember our Heroes Luminary Display
7 p.m.
Join us as we remember our heroes with a luminary display in honor of family and friends who served in the United States Armed Forces.

If you would like to participate in this special ceremony, please complete the online registration form. To complete the registration process, we ask that you stop by the luminary booth, located on the 1st floor of the ArtsQuest Center to make your donation. The booth will be open over the course of the holiday weekend during the following time frames:

Sunday, May 26, 3-7 p.m.

Proceeds will be donated to the Lehigh Valley American Gold Star Mothers, Inc.

A Time to Remember

The Memorial Day Weekend celebration will conclude with a memorial service to remember the Lehigh Valley’s fallen soldiers.

 

The Unknowns Documentary Screening
noon | Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas
A documentary about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Sentinels who stand guard at our Nation’s most sacred shrine 24/7.
