Join the students of Aliya Brown’s Intro to Standup Class as they debut their brand new 5 minutes of Standup material!

This class is an introduction to standup comedy from both a creative and practical approach. Attendees will learn and apply the basics of joke construction, acquire useful tips for beginners, and receive individualized feedback with the goal of producing 5 minutes of material. The class will culminate with a graduation show where participants will perform their material.

Aliya is a Lehigh Valley based comedian, writer, and producer, who has most recently made her Los Angeles debut as a featured performer in the Laugh Riot Grrrl Comedy Festival.

Aliya regularly performs at various venues along the East Coast, including her favorite local venue of the ArtsQuest ComedyPlatz during Musikfest. She also proudly produces workshops, shows, and other opportunities with her community group LV Stand-Up Women.

This show will contain adult language and/or situations. Seating will be assigned by ArtsQuest staff upon arrival into the showroom. Anyone coming in between the ages of 13 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No child 12 or under will be admitted.
