Enjoy hot chocolate while we create a variety of holiday-related crafts, such as wrapping paper, ornaments, a paper lantern, and felt holiday cookies. We will discuss examples of related works of art by diverse artists who create paintings on cookies such as Jasmine Cho and Ella Hawkins, and who create paintings of cookies, cakes and pastries like Wayne Thiebaud. Students are encouraged to attend all sessions since we will need the weeks in between our classes for our projects to dry.

• Nov 18: “Monoprint” and stamp designs using printmaking techniques to make handmade gift wrapping paper.
• Dec 2: Felt holiday “cookies” with puffy paint decorations. Begin working on a paper lantern that lights up using battery-powered candles.
• Dec 9: Holiday ornaments using cardboard, egg cartons, paints, yarn, and embellishments. Continue to work on paper lantern.
• Dec 16: Complete all projects.

Kristin has been a teaching artist and summer camp supervisor for the Banana Factory, on and off since 2019. Since 2017, she has been a freelance mindfulness and art teacher for Shanthi Project, a non-profit organization based in Allentown that provides evidence-based mindfulness programming throughout the Lehigh Valley. As a Shanthi Project Teacher, Kristin has taught art and mindfulness at Lehigh University Art Galleries, Northampton County Juvenile Justice Center, Central Elementary School in Allentown, and throughout the Bethlehem Area School District. In her full-time role, she is the Director of Foster Care and Adoption at the Children’s Home of Easton.
