Visitors will be inspired and astonished by the determination, hard work and conviction of Bethlehem’s Moravian founders as they tour this museum housed in the 1741 Gemeinhaus, a National Historic Landmark and the oldest building in Bethlehem. The 2009 holiday season will feature period decorations including multiple reproductions of the candle-and-fruit decorated 1747 pyramid of greens, which has been called the “first recorded Christmas tree in America.” Included in the visit is "House on the Lecha: An Architectural History of Bethlehem’s Gemeinhaus,” a new exhibition placing the entire museum on display.
We're currently planning this year's holiday celebrations.
Our goal is to make updates later this summer, with all sorts of holiday merriment!
Merry Christmas!
